Wall-e review

Watch Wall-E Review video clip

The latest from Disney and Pixar. From the moment I heard Disney and Pixar were doing another movie, I was sold. I haven't seen Cars, but I've never been disappointed with a picture by this collaboration. I still hold The Incredibles as one of my favorite animated movies of all time. It's up there with The Lion King and Princess Mononoke. And then Trailers came, and I went from being sold, to guaranteed midnight showing. The concept is everybody has left earth, and someone forgot to turn off the last robot. Then, during the 700 years it's been alone, it's developed a personality. I won't give anything away, but the story is brilliant. Andrew Stanton has once again brought us a truly original, light-hearted story that will capture the imagination of everyone. There are a lot of messages in the movie that some may seem a little blunt, but they're good ones, and some of them provide quite a bit of entertaining jokes. Wall-E was such a great character. He's able to display all arrays of emotions through his body language and the noises he makes. He also has a bit of speech ability. The other characters in this movie are great. And you really want to know what happens to them. And in a bit of irony, the robots have become more human than humans. The humor in this movie was fresh. I laughed throughout this picture. But humor isn't the only emotion this movie triggers. It hits you from all angles. And it's sometimes hard enough for a live action movie to do that, but Pixar and Disney have been doing a great job at it for years, and they show no signs of rust on this ability. The animation is key for an animated movie. If that doesn't work, the whole project fails. And just like the other movies these guys have done, it's great. The visuals are just amazing. Everything is just great eye candy, even Earth after it's been just torn apart and left to rot, it looks great. The sound effects and music back up the animation perfectly. Even the voice actors were great. Their was only a handful, but they all did great. Pixar also keeps with their tradition with having John Ratzenberger bring a character to life, as he had with every Disney and Pixar movie to date. He's just got that voice you can't miss. If I had to complain about anything... uh... It ended....??? I can't really think of anything to pick at. I'm sure someone will find something, but for me, the movie was pretty close to flawless. It's light-hearted, visually spectacular, an earful of joy, and extremely cute. I can't think of a single reason not to see this movie. Just go see it. I'd put it up, probably over Iron Man for best movie of the year so far. Yes, I said it. This definitely is up for best animated picture. Worth the full price admission, no question. 5/5
