Aaron Nichols, the man currently being held for the murders of Donald and Alice Willey of Sykeston has now confessed to the killings. He did so in September in a letter sent to Grand Forks defense attorney David Ogren. Ogren is representing Nichols' girlfriend, Tamara Sorenson. She is facing charges as being an accomplice to the murder, but Nichols' letter may change that. Perry Olson has more on the confession letter in which Nichols describes in graphic detail how he murdered the Willeys... (Perry Olson - KX News) In the letter Nichols says quote, I am writing a full and true confession on the murders of Don and Alice Willey. He goes on to describe how he bought ammunition, drove to Sykeston and quote, Changed clothes so I was wearing camouflage and covered up my face. I grabbed my .45 pistol and headed out. From there he detailed how he broke into the home, nearly tripping over the family dog and came face to face with both Donald and Alice. Don started to rise off the couch and I shot him three times in the back. Then I turned and shot Alice three times in the chest. I quickly reloaded as I seen Don start to rise again. I shot him two more times and then turned and shot Alice in the head. His chilling confession continued...I walked back outside and grabbed my gas can I brought along. I went back into the house and poured gas all over Don and Alice Willey. I also poured a trail of gas to the door. Before I walked out, I grabbed my lighter and lit a towel on fire and tossed it on the gas. This is the scene officials discovered that Good Friday evening...the house in flames with Donald and Alice dead inside. Nichols would go on to attend the funeral of the two in support of Tamara Sorenson who is the mother of the Willeys' granddaughter. Nichols was soon arrested for the murders - and two months later Sorenson was charged with being an accomplice to the murders...but that may now be in doubt. Nichols continued in his letter...To the best of my knowledge Tammy never knew that I planned on killing Don and Alice Willey. I never once told her my plans on committing the murders., and...I am the only one to blame for the deaths of Don and Alice Willey. Nichols signed his letter of confession on September 11th. Perry Olson, KX News. Sorenson's lawyer has now made a motion for the court to drop the charges against his client because since the letter details how she was not involved. David Ogren says there is insufficient evidence to sustain the charge against Tamara Sorenson.
