Watch Games Becoming Like Movies - Modern Warefare Gameplay video clip

An short, rich sequence filmed from in-game action of the 2007 PC release: Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warefare.Interactive TV has always had some sort of games features being added in however, from the original BBC Teletext quiz 'Bamboozle' to the much more recent 'Gamestar' portal offered by the Sky satellite TV service. Although the games are still relatively simple (monopoly, who wants to be a millionaire etc) the interest in TV being developed by the Games console market points to a rich future for gaming. Already, games released in this past year (2007) are becoming more and more like movies in their design and depth of storyline. Recent titles such as 'Kane and Lynch: Dead Men', and even as far back as the 'Max Payne' titles have moved from the terminology of game 'levels' to 'scenes', as though it were a movie, and the player is the leading character. It is also increasingly the case that popular tv shows and films are made into games, sometimes being released on the same week of the release of their television counterpart. Not only that, but even games themselves like Doom, Resident Evil, Hitman and Aliens Vs Predator are inspiring new Hollywood blockbusters, blurring the line between computer games and television to the point where the separation may not even exist. One can imagine a time where television is so interactive that the viewer makes all the decisions about what happens next in the story, and in effect plays director to the movie themselves. - [Constantine 200614546]
