Models, landscapes, animals, artworks: this is the time when calendars for the new year are launched and compete to get their spot on the walls of homes and offices world wide. 12 virtual women, Kaya, Mi, Tasha, Judith Pixelle, Kyra and many others, get into the scuffle in 2007 as for the first time a calendar featuring only women designed using 3D modelling design techniques in launched in Italy. The Miss Digital World The Calendar 2007 is realised in black and white and it associates to each month a model and a quote by a famous author on the theme of beauty. Beauty saves the world, says Russian writer Fedor Dostoevskij. Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it, adds Chinese philosopher Confucius a month later. "Hundreds of girls ask me to become virtual" said the calendar creator, Franz Cerami, explaining how he got the idea. "They would like to have an alter ego, to become virtual, to be digital. So we thought it was a good idea to develop a software, and we did it. We had the idea to develop this calendar that in a way is an homage to all these digital avatars, all these digital beauties that we find in television, on the web and, mostly now, in cinema," he added. "I think the calendar is a big representation of what digital beauties are at the moment.
